Who is polly and what is polly’s Playoff?
Welcome to the 5th year of Polly’s Playoff, a charity tournament for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. For those of you that don’t know my wife Andrea’s Nana, Polly Brunson, suffered from Alzheimer’s and eventually passed away from the disease last November 15th, 2019.
In 2020 the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is actually on November 15th. I only knew her for 7 years and most of those she was affected by the disease. But it hurt me in a different way. I didn’t have the memories or the experiences to lose, but my wife and her dad and mom and sister did. And I had to watch as they lost the person they knew and loved and couldn’t do anything about it.
To help our team make an impact against this terrible disease this year, Andrea and I decided to use my platform here on Twitter to do a Fantasy Football tournament. So, here are the rules!
The Rules
Draft:
The draft will be held when all slots are filled. If you do not show up I cannot get you your money back as it is a donation, so please show up to the draft. The timer will be for 8 hours(Slow Draft) to accommodate for trade negotiations, time differences, work and daily life.
We all have lives, families, jobs etc. so please be respectful towards other team managers. The clock pauses overnight but you can still make picks. Typically from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM
Waivers:
Waivers will be rolling FAAB waivers. You can bid $0 on these so there are no limits to how many transactions. For those new to FAAB, you get a set budget and are able to bid dollar amounts on free agent players and like an auction the highest bid wins.
Trading:
Trading is allowed AFTER THE DRAFT. All trades will go through once accepted. IF you accidentally accept a trade you must notify me immediately. Any trades that seem suspicious of collusion will be reviewed and both owners will be messaged to explain the trade. If it is deemed collusion the trade will be reversed and both parties will receive a warning. If a team is caught colluding twice they will be removed and that team will be set by the commissioner until a replacement manager is found. Trade deadline will be Week 12!!

Setting Lineups/ Inactivity:
The expectation is that owners will set lineups each week so that each league is competitive. We understand that life can get in the way, but frequent amounts of inactivity may lead to removal from the league.
We obviously don’t want to kick people out of leagues, but will do so in order to maintain the integrity of the league, and be fair to all owners. IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT SETTING A LINEUP BESTBALL IS AN OPTION THIS YEAR.
If we are affected by COVID again the rule will be that you are allowed to name a replacement for a player before games start by changing their nickname on Sleeper to who you would like to replace them with. This will be in effect all year, but is ONLY for COVID purposes.
Accidental Roster Moves:
If you have made an accidental roster move i.e. dropped the wrong player, then you need to contact me or your comissioner ASAP, and certainly within an hour of making the error. If the player has been picked up by another team in this time, then the relevant transaction(s) will also be reversed.
Integrity Clause:
This clause is more to cover for anything that hasn’t been explicitly covered anywhere else in the document. Should anything like that come up, then Shane reserves the right to take whatever actions seem appropriate in the circumstances, in the best interest of the league.
Also, we are not going to be able to keep as close an eye on your league as you are. If there is something that you are not happy with then please contact us with details and we will look into it for you.
Playoffs:
First the PLAYOFFS WILL NOT BE TRACKED WITHIN THE SLEEPER APP. THEY WILL BE TRACKED VIA SPREADSHEET.
Once the playoffs start in week 15 the only thing you need to do is set your lineup in Sleeper. There will be 240 teams in our tournament! This will be 20 12 team divisions and 4 teams from each division will make the playoffs. The playoffs will work as follows:
The team with the best record, second best record and third best record will make it from each division. Then the highest scorer from each league(that is not one of the top three records) will also make it based on their Max Points For Column in sleeper. For the Best Ball division it will be the same. The Best Ball option will hopefully double the team to 480 teams, so 40 12 team divisions. 4 teams will also make it from each best ball division.
From there the tournament halves each week. SO in week 15 it is 80 teams, in week 16 it is 40 teams and in week 17 it is 20 teams. The winner of Polly’s Playoff is the highest scorer from the remaining 20 teams in week 17.
Tiebreakers
Teams with the same record at the end of the regular season will be ranked by Max Points For. So if 4 teams have the same record the 3 teams that are guaranteed in are the ones with the highest Max Points For. The 4th playoff team will then be decided by Max Points for meaning the 4th team with the same record could be left out.
